Snapchat Ads URL parameters tracking setup
Add the Metrikia URL parameters template to your Snapchat ads so every click is attached to its ad.
Objective
Make every Snapchat click carry the id of its ad, so Metrikia attaches each visit and each sale to the right campaign, ad squad and ad.
Prerequisites
- Snapchat Ads connected to Metrikia
- The Metrikia pixel installed on your landing pages
The template to paste
Copy the template shown in Metrikia (Settings > Integrations > Snapchat Ads > URL parameters). It looks like this:
mtk_source=snapchat&mtk_campaign={{campaign.id}}&mtk_adset={{adSet.id}}&mtk_ad={{ad.id}}
Mind the case: Snapchat writes adSet with a capital S. A misspelled macro stays as is in the URL and the click can no longer be attached.
Step 1: Add the parameters to your ads
- In Snapchat Ads Manager, open the ad (or create one) whose attachment is a website
- In the ad details, click Build a URL Parameter
- Add one custom key per template parameter (mtk_source, mtk_campaign, mtk_adset, mtk_ad) with its value
- Check the link in the preview, then save and submit the ad
Step 2: Check in Metrikia
After the first clicks, open Pixel: visits coming from Snapchat show up attached to their ad. Snapchat also appends a click id (ScCid) to your links on its own, which Metrikia recognizes.
Troubleshooting
Clicks arrive without an ad
- Check the exact spelling of the macros, double braces included
- Check that the mtk_ad parameter uses {{ad.id}}
The preview shows "successful_"
That is how Snapchat previews through a Snapcode. In live delivery, the real values are inserted.
