Install the Metrikia pixel on your site

Three ways to install the tracking pixel (script, Tag Manager, developer), the automatic Shopify case and how to verify it works.

Also known as

Metrikia pixel, tracking pixel, tracking script, snippet, site tag, first-party tracking, visit tracking, install the pixel, tracking code.

What the pixel does

The Metrikia pixel records visits on your site and keeps the ad click identifiers (Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest). It is what connects a click on an ad to a real sale, even days later. Without it, attribution relies only on what ad platforms and your CRM declare.

Special case: Shopify store

If your Shopify store is connected to Metrikia, the pixel is installed automatically at connection time. Nothing to do: store visits and purchases are already tracked. Do not add the script manually on top, one pixel per store is enough.

Prerequisites

  • An active Metrikia account.
  • A tracking key: generated in one click from Settings, Pixel section (/app/settings, tracking pixel tab). If no key exists yet, the page offers to create one.
  1. Open Settings then the Pixel section (/app/settings).
  2. Copy the displayed snippet: it already contains your tracking key.
  3. Paste it just before the closing head tag, on every page of your site (in your theme or main template).
  4. Publish your site.

Method 2: Google Tag Manager

  1. In the Pixel section, open the Tag Manager tab and copy the snippet.
  2. In Google Tag Manager, create a custom HTML tag with that content.
  3. Trigger: all pages. Publish the container.

Method 3: send to a developer

The "Send to a dev" tab prepares an email with the snippet and instructions. Useful if you never touch your site's code.

Verify the pixel works

  1. Visit your site in a new tab.
  2. Back in Settings, Pixel section: the last-24-hours visit counter should show at least 1.
  3. On the dashboard, the setup card reflects the active pixel as soon as the first visit lands.

For a step-by-step real-time validation (live test and on-site diagnostic), see the guide "Validate your pixel installation".

Common issues

  • No visit counted: check the snippet is present on the published page (view source) and that your tracking key is active in Settings.
  • Ad blocker: test in a private window without extensions.
  • Several sites: the same snippet works on all your domains, the key belongs to your account.
