Validate your pixel installation

What this guide is for

Once the pixel is installed (see "Install the Metrikia pixel on your site"), you still need proof that it actually sends visits to the server. Two complementary tools: the live test built into Metrikia, which shows what the server receives, and the Metrikia Companion Chrome extension, which diagnoses directly on your site's pages.

Special case: Shopify store

If your Shopify store is connected to Metrikia, the pixel is installed automatically and runs in Shopify's own isolated environment. This guide does not apply: the extension diagnostic would wrongly report a missing pixel. Instead, check that store visits show up on your dashboard.

Method 1: the built-in live test

1. Open Settings then the Pixel section (/app/settings).
2. In the "Live test" card, click Test: a 15-minute test session starts.
3. Open your site in another tab and visit 2 or 3 pages.
4. Come back to the card: every visit the server receives shows up within about 2 seconds, with the event type and time.

Expected result: at least one event per visited page. The list keeps the last 50 events and the session expires after 15 minutes (a button restarts it). If events show up here, your pixel works: this is server-side proof.

Method 2: diagnose on your site with Metrikia Companion

If the live test shows no events, the Metrikia Companion Chrome extension identifies the cause directly on your pages.

1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/metrikia-companion/gljdgnenpddjodjdodeojnmdhibkiigl
2. Connect the extension to your Metrikia account.
3. Open a page of your site, open the extension and pick the Pixel Doctor mode.
4. Run the analysis: the extension checks the script presence, the tracking key and the actual event delivery while you browse.

Reading the diagnostic results

• Script missing: the snippet is not on the published page. Check the paste in your theme or Tag Manager container, then republish.
• Script present but tracking key missing: the pixel sends requests the server rejects. Copy the full snippet again from Settings, it contains your key.
• Consent refused: the pixel waits for the visitor's cookie consent. Accept the consent banner on your own test visit.
• All green in the extension but nothing in Metrikia: an ad blocker is probably intercepting the calls. Retry in a private window without extensions.
