Why my multi-touch attribution coverage is low
Understand the "Multi-touch attribution covers only X% of deals" banner. Why only a few deals have a full path and how to improve coverage.
Why this banner appears
The banner shows when fewer than 10% of your deals have a conversion path (touchpoint sequence). Without paths, multi-touch attribution is not representative: Diana and MTA reports have nothing to analyze.
Typical causes
- Historical backfill: deals imported from your CRM (HubSpot, Pipedrive, etc.) have no touchpoints because the Metrikia pixel was not installed at the time
- Missing pixel on the website
- Platform webhooks not configured (Meta CAPI, Google Enhanced Conversions)
- Email/phone matching failed between CRM leads and pixel touchpoints
How to verify
- Open /app/attribution
- Look at the Coverage metric: ratio of touchpoints / deals
- If the score is red, this banner is confirmed
How to improve
Metrikia pixel on every page
- Settings > Tracking > Attribution pixel
- Copy the snippet and install in
<head>of every page - Use Test now to confirm the pixel fires events
Server-side via webhooks
- Meta CAPI: send conversions server-side to stabilize matching
- Google Enhanced Conversions: configure the tag to send hashed emails
Identify leads without paths
- Go to /app/crm/leads
- Filter on Source = Unknown
- These leads are candidates for manual matching or an enriched re-import
What about historical deals
Historical backfill is inherently unattributable. Accept that coverage stays low for the first 30 to 60 days after import. Focus on coverage of new deals: this is what drives future media decisions.
